"RUHR.2010" The Ruhr is European Capital of Culture
The Ruhr region has made his way in the middle of Europe to become a new type of cultural capital.
The award as the cultural capital of Europe by the EU means for the region, recognizing the cultural force that shapes the transformation from industrial to new, attractive and dynamic Ruhr.
RUHR.2010 is a cultural development project of European dimension, which is generated in the exciting and contrasting urban landscape of the Ruhr-lasting effects.
For the first time will take the Ruhr a metropolitan region with 5.3 million inhabitants, the title of European Capital of Culture.
In unprecedented ways have the 53 cities for the ambitious project together.
The European Council had the title in November 2006 representing awarded to the city of Essen for the entire Ruhr area.
About 2,000 project proposals from artists, initiatives, institutions and RUHR.2010 enthusiasts have been evaluated.
The projects are the four areas of the city facilities, city of the arts, city of culture and creativity associated with the city, which will open up the entire Ruhr region as a playing area of the program.
Receiving point for the visitors will be the world heritage Zollverein in Essen.
Amateur Radio Communications = Social communication
Communicate with radion contacts in foreign countries we welcome cultural idiosyncrasies. With contacts to our radio partners, we draw attention to the event RUHR.2010. With contacts across the airwaves, we draw attention to the technical culture of amateur radio, as many of the technical events of the Cultural recall in the Ruhr.

Lütgendortmund celebrated alongside the highway

European scouts as a guest in the Ruhr
As highlight of the project move to 10 the DPSG in the diocese of Essen will organize a huge camp with scout troops from its 200 European twin towns as well as the 53 cities and
towns from the Ruhr - the ruhrjamb.2010.
We would like to invite you and your group to experience an international camp together with 2,700 other scouts from all over Europe from August 6th until 22nd.
On the agenda will be culture, trips, sports, excursions, hike, group discussions, workshops, social work, days of home hospitality, music and loads of scouting culture and encounter. The groups will live in villages together with their partner groups.
The camp will take place in the Hallo-park in Essen, close to the World Cultural Heritage Zeche Zollverein.
The city of Pécs is the European Capital of Culture in 2010.
On this occassion the Mecsek Radio Club issued an award with the following requirements:
At least 2010 points need to be collected. Only the QSO-s made between 01.01.2010 and 31.12.2010 are valid.
* 300 points: HG10P, HG2010P, HG10PECS special callsigns
* 100 points: HA3, HG3 callsigns
* 50 points: All HA, HG callsigns
Direct QSO-s are independent from bands and modes, a QSO with one station qualifies only once.
QSO-s via Packet, repeater, and internet based system (EchoLink, WEB TCVR, etc….) are not accepted.
Award fee: 1000HUF for Hungarian stations, 10€ for foreign stations.
